Genevive Smith | April 2016
Genevive “Gen” Smith was born on October 2, 1919 in Bradford, Illinois at home. Gen is the youngest of seven children. She married Merlin Smith, and together they had two boys and one girl (who is the eldest). She has four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, with one on the way. Gen spent six years in a country school and six years in a town school before continuing on to nursing school at Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois. She was a private duty nurse, working at Methodist Hospital, and then spent the last 14 years of her career as a nurse for Doctor Apathy in Bradford. In her spare time, she loves to bake, and was named the Star Courier’s “Cook of the Week.” Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting are her family’s favorite. Gen is very active at Courtyard Estates and we love having her around. Congratulations, Gen!
